A fun but silly story...The last & final chapter is on page 478..updated 16th August 2012
Now i must explain first when i went to this concert i wasn’t a huge fan my friend Sophie asked if i would go and i said yes i`ll go, never seen him live i wasn’t that bothered who he was, i just love live music. We did make sure that Enrique`s greatest hits cd was playing all the way to Cardiff just so i didn’t look stupid ,but i knew all his songs anyway ,just never brought any of his albums. The only song i hadn’t listened to in a long time was “ hero “ and that song reminded me of my ex and every time it was played i use to turn the radio off! Too many memories , too hurtful to listen too.
So, we drive to Cardiff to watch Enrique in concert, it took us about 2 hours to get there traffic was good on this particular day thank god, when we arrived around 4pm it was a lovely sunny day.
We found somewhere to park quite easy right next to the Cardiff arena. We sat in the car wondering
what to do as we were so early, i said “well , we could walk into town go get something to eat, go shopping just to kill sometime then come back a little later on”.
We got out the car, we decided to check which way we had to go in to the arena we looked up & noticed a huge crowd had developed at the back of the arena, so went to see what all the fuss was about.Enrique had just arrived and he was running late as usual and i just saw the top of his hat, all these girls were screaming out his name to which i just laughed and shook my head, all of a sudden i heard some one call my name “June, June “over here i looked over by the barrier & noticed a guy waving at me, it was one of the Roadie`s that i knew called Jamie i knew Jamie from another gig he was doing ages ago. Jamie was 6ft with short Blonde hair not bad looking if i were honest.
He called me over & asked how i was, said i was fine said hello to my friend Sophie, i said to” Jamie what brings you here” he replied “the company i work for are doing the Enrique tour”, “wow that`s good for ya” i replied. Jamie then said to me “Are you still a keen photographer”
“yes i am why?” Looking really puzzled.
“Well Enrique`s resident photographer has had to go back home to Miami due to ill health & the management & Enrique are losing their minds because they desperately need someone to take photos for tonight`s gig & the rest of his tour”. I smiled & said “what has that got to do with me” acting a bit dumb and smiling at Jamie “well ,was wondering if your up to doing it i would have to go and speak to his people first” i blushed and i said “yeah would love too, but it wont Happen Jamie they wouldn’t want someone like me ,miss ordinary doing that sort of thing, he said “lets try yeah?”
I gave him my number & he said he would ring & let me know either way.
We walked off and Sophie was dead excited i said “don’t get your hopes up it aint going to happen lets walk in to town to get something to eat” by this time i was starving it was like 4.30pm we hadn’t eaten since 9am & that was at breakfast!
we got half way in to town when my phone rings its Jamie i gasp at Sophie, shaking i answered it & he said “where are you? Walking in to town why? “
“Well you better get your sorry little arse back here they want you to do some test shots of Enrique`s sound check & if your any good you`ve got the gig!!” I squealed with delight & went “nah Jamie your winding me up” he replied “i am not June, Enrique said he wanted to see what you were
made of! So, seriously get your arse back here now, but you have to be here
like now” he screamed. “Ok, ok” i said “we`re coming back right now but i warn you, you better not be winding me up Jamie! “I turned to Sophie & said “we`ve gotta go back they want me now!” smiling
really silly I said to Jamie “we`re be there in about 10 minutes”
I screamed, jumped up & down, said “we going to have to run back mate” she laughed & said “what in these heels” i said “yeah take them off “laughing.we ran as fast as we could back to the arena as it was getting late it was about 5.00pm and the doors were due to open at 6.30pm but Enrique hadn’t even done his sound check.
We got back to the arena and there was even more people waiting to see Enrique and as we were walking towards the barrier i heard some bloke say to these girls “oh they reckon they going to just walk up & go straight in” i smiled at the little cocky bloke as The security guy lifted the barrier up, i said “we`re here to see Jamie”, the guy look over at Jamie he gave The nod and the security guard let us through. The bloke blushed with embarrassment, i looked at him and laughed he put his head down because he knew how stupid he sounded, to be honest i don’t think he even knew we heard him say
what he did.
Jamie said “here your both going to need these access all areas passes” as we were walking into the venue, we put them over our heads so that the hung from out necks, so that they could be scanned each time we went anywhere.
“Sophie, your going to have to sit this one out i`m afraid your have to wait in the lounge room as Enrique doesn’t want anyone else in the arena apart from the Band, sound engineers & his management and of course June” Jamie smiled at this because he knew that this could be the best thing that has happened to me. It did make me blush that Enrique only wanted me in there with the others, and i thought, yeah right as if Enrique would even give me a second glance.
Jamie took me through and i remember thinking this is too good to be true someone pinch me please, my heart was beating so fast i was shaking, the palms of my hands were sweaty and my mouth was dry, Dave one of the sound guys introduced me to everyone he said “you can go anywhere you like,
where would you prefer to take your pix?” I said sheepishly ,”can i go on the cat walk?”
Dave replied “yes you can”, smiling at me there was some small steps leading to end of the catwalk & i decided i was going to sit crossed legged at the end to take some pix just take a few then go nearer once i plucked up the courage to do so...Id never seen Enrique in concert let alone met him & i never really been nervous when i have met famous people before,but this time “oh boy”
Enrique popped out from the side of the stage saw me sitting on the end of the catwalk & waved said
in to the microphone “Hey June, you ok?”
The house lights were up so he could see me clearly He looked so handsome and so tall id forgotten how tall he was. He was wearing his trade mark cap jeans, white hoodie with a scarf to keep his throat warm. I thought my heart was going to stop beating, I could feel it miss a beat when i saw him standing there smiling. I was looking up feeling myself blushing a lot i waved back & smiled thinking my god he looks even more handsome in the flesh.
The band starting playing ring my bells just as Enrique started walking towards me i was laughing to myself because i was so nervous, i could feel myself going red as he walked up to me smiling and singing “ring my bells” He stopped singing, the band continued to play.
He came right up to me sat down in front of me crossed his legs and our knees were touching each other, he said “you ok”? too which i replied “well err no, if i am honest i am shitting myself,” too which
he burst out laughing “hold your hands out “i put my camera down & i held my hands out he said “turn your hands, so your palms are facing the floor”, i looked at him he said “wow, you really are shitting yourself “ he said laughing at me “ your hands are shaking like mad, just like mine”
he started to laugh as he made his hands shake. I laugh at him thinking you silly sod but he put me at ease really quickly.
Enrique then said “bet your heart is beating real fast? “To that i answered “yes, it is “ took his right hand & placed it on my heart without even thinking where his hand was, he looked me right in the eye for a good few seconds smiled and then moved his hand away slowly, he was still smiling at this point. I thought how embarrassing was that, i mean, I don’t even know the guy really & go and do that to him, stupid, stupid i kept saying to myself.
I also remember thinking how beautiful his eyes were while he looking at me for that split moment,the skin on is hands was so soft. He then took hold of my camera & came right next me put his to head to my head & took a photo,” smile” he said as he was taking it.
He then got up ,extended his arms ,pulled me up said “bet your not nervous now are ya”
kissed me on both cheeks gave me hug and said “go for it June , take as many pix as you like, the more the better lets see how good u really are!! Put it this way if these photo`s don’t come out very good Jamie is going to be in big trouble” laughing.
I took about 50 photos of him doing the sound check he was running late as usual but he needed
to make sure everything was good to go for tonight`s gig, he finished & i said “Thanks Enrique” he said “No probs June i`ll take a look at them now if that`s ok? Yeah of course”, I took the memory card out the camera and gave it to him he said “do you mind waiting in the lounge room with the band? Just while i take a look at these with Fernando and we won`t keep you in suspense too long i promise you” he said smiling & he gave me a wink.
Went into the lounge room & my friend Sophie was talking
to Laura Jane they both asked how it went i said “ok i think, their looking at them now” i said nervously. Laura said “he will love them June trust me, Sophie has showed me some other photo`s that you have taken & you are really good June, Don`t put yourself down”, “cant help it “”i replied “just don’t think i am that good if i am totally honest with you” i snapped and i apologise for snapping but she understood how much this meant to me.
I smiled at her but i wasn’t convinced kept thinking he wasn’t going to like them & that they would be wasting their time testing me when they could have got a professional photographer in for one night.
About half an hour went past and i have to say it was the longest half hour of my life i was walking up & down the room thinking to myself he won`t like them, bet they turned out blurred. Everyone kept telling me sit down don’t worry, but i couldn’t i was worrying big time.
Then the door swings open i stop dead in my tracks, Fernando says “June, come with me”...Gulp i looked at everyone in the room they wished me luck. Enrique`s dressing room was at the end of the corridor my heart was beating so fast, i was so sure that Fernando could hear it going boom,
boom boom, Fernando knocked on Enrique`s door walked in & said to me “come in, sit down next to Enrique” i smiled and said “thanks” as i did Enrique kissed me again on the cheek & said “well
well well.”...............
I was really blushing at this point my heart was pounding, my hands a little sweaty, my mouth was so dry & i honestly thought i was going to cry.........

Part Twoi sat down Next to Enrique he smiled & my heart was
beating like a drum, in my head i hear him say” your photo`s are just not good
enough June im soo sorry”He said to me “you better take a look at them, i `m not sure what your going to think of them June”.
He looked quite serious.I looked on as Enrique was clicking through each photo pausing for a few seconds on each he shook his head a few times. I felt Two pairs of eyes on me and my reaction. He clicked all way through them and stopped,turned to look at me.Well, what do you think? Me, being a total perfectionist , said about 10 are rubbish the other 40 are ok.
Enrique stood up from his chair looked at me putting his arms around me “ok ? are you joking June?” Laughing
at me “these are fab! “ I looked up at him with a puzzling look and said “really?” He said “yes, you have the gig tonight babe” he then gave me the biggest hug id ever been given, a kiss on the lips..I blushed my heart still beating like mad didn’t know what to do i stood there like a complete idiot shaking and thinking oh my god which i kept repeating over and over again.I had tears in eyes and he gently wiped the tears away as they fell. Enrique was laughing at me, hugging me & moving me from side to side, saying “it`s gonna be great i promise you June.”Fernando was laughing too at this point saying to me “ Your face when he told you, i wish i took a photo of you”
Enrique continued to say “if the pictures you take tonight are like these June you going to have to come & work for me throughout this tour and maybe more things for me in the future”. I must have looked really confused saying” but i have a job” Enrique said “don’t worry bout that yet let`s see what you do tonight”. He gave me another hug and said he must get ready for the gig but would make sure he came and saw me later before he went on stage.
I headed back to the lounge room, but i did a little hop and a skip & as i got closer to the door i tried to remain calm.
Everyone went quiet when i walked in & Laura said “well?” I said “i got the gig tonight & if i do well enough tonight he is going to give me a job woo hoo”...everyone was coming up to me hugging & congratulating me it was all a daze if i am honest with you.
The rest of the band had to go get ready too & Sophie was no where to be seen, so i was all alone in the lounge i sat down had some time to gather my thoughts, my god I could actually be with Enrique every day, oh my god i thought how am i going to cope i put my head in my hands in amazement i was thinking what if i ruin my chance tonight? What if i don’t get the photo`s right, my head was getting totally mashed up
Next thing i know i heard someone come in to the room sit down next to me, and they say, “are you ok June?” It was Enrique sitting there when i looked i smiled when i saw it was him, he was ready for tonight`s gig, the
door of the lounge room was open that`s why he came in he saw me sitting there alone, he said “Are you ok?” I said “Yes i am good thanks its just all starting to sink in” He said “come here” smiling he put his arms around me and said “don’t worry about a thing June everything will be ok, you will be fine”. I let my head rest on his chest he
smelt so nice, clean, fresh he was stroking my hair saying “your be fine babe”, smiled as i looked up at him our eyes met again for just a few seconds i turned my head away, I got up said to him” id better make sure that i am ready for tonight”. I turned back to look at him & his face looked disappointed as if he wanted something to happen, i asked if he was ok he nodded & said yeah everything cool. He looked so fit ready to go on stage he didn’t have his cap on at first, & said to him “you look real nice without your cap on” he smiled & said “well, thanks but this is my lucky cap, i always wear it, hey maybe you should try it on give you some luck, but i really don’t think your need any do you?” He placed the cap on my head & i turned to look in the mirror. Enrique had his hands on my shoulders, smiling at me wearing his cap, he said “looks good on you” i replied “bet it looks better on you”, i turn round to face him, our eyes met again as i placed the cap on him, he leaned in closer to me when Fernando walks in the room & Enrique turns round to him and Fernando gives Enrique the look and says
“are we ready”?I had to go and get myself in a good position decided to stand at the end of the catwalk for the first few pictures as he told me he comes out from underneath the stage, the crowd went wild and oh the screaming was
so loud esp once the house lights went down and “Ring my bells “was echoing out through out the arena, have to admit its now one of my favourite songs.I reckon i must have taken around 150 photo`s before we even got to hero, i didn’t know at that time he picks a girl from the crowd to sing hero he came to the end of the catwalk right near me looks around for someone.
Then suddenly he points to me and says “you can come up” i looked on in horror i pointed to myself and mouthed “me?” He said “yeah you,” laughing i got up on stage did not know where to look. He told me to stay where i was and the song started “ let me be your hero” he whispered then sang “would you dance if i asked you dance” the crowd was going wild as we danced and my heart was doing summersaults, i thought i was going to be sick. Tears welled up in my eyes & again Enrique wiped them away as they fell, Enrique is smiling while he singing to me knowing full well i didn’t know what to do with myself, he hugs me, kisses me & then whispers in my ear” from the moment i first met you, i knew you were someone special”, all i said was “did you now” & smiled with tears running down my face, he wiped away the tears yet again, “why you crying” he whispered “long story i will tell you another time”. He smiled and continued to hug me as he sang the words” i can be your hero baby”.....The song was over so quickly, we went underneath the stage,but he had to hurry back out, but he said “June before you go back out there i meant what i just said to you “,he winked ,he cupped his hands on my face & kissed me on the lips & disappeared.
All i could think about was” whoah how the hell did that happen? “
I carried on taking a few more photo`s taking around another 50, when a girl came up to me saying you are one lucky girl you know that don’t ya? I smiled and said “Yeah i guess so”“How many girls get to go on stage with him” i said “apparently one every night” she said “are you also taking photo`s for him or of him?” I replied “for him he hired me today to do the photography for this show oh my god “she replied “how cool is that”. I smiled and walked away i knew what her next question was going to be.
At the end of the concert I decided i would go back stage to have a sneak preview of my photo`s and to my amazement they were really good. I then felt someone looking over my shoulder it was Enrique he said” i think they would look better viewed on the laptop lets go see what you`ve taken”, he grabs my hand and we walk back to his dressing room, hand in hand i look behind and Fernando was at the other end of the corridor he looks at us smiles & winks at me.
Part Three
We go in to Enrique`s dressing room he opens up the laptop and we both look at the photo`s i took, wow Enrique said “these are amazing June, i knew you wouldn’t disappoint me babe.”
I look at him, smile i say “thank you, so what happens now then?”
Well let me talk to Fernando and i will get straight back to you.
“Ok well i will let you have a shower and i will see you in a bit “he hugs me and kisses me on the lips once again, i then leave him to sort himself out. “Oh, by the way what made you cry when i sang to you tonight?”
“Oh, Enrique its a long story hun, the easiest way to say is it reminded me of my ex he sang it to me once & then i found out he cheated on me. I`ve only just been able to listen to it after all these years” “? ”How many years has it been since you could listen to it i said “9 years ” Oh June i am sorry to hear that” He came over to me smiled kissed me on my fore head and hugged me said “ i didn’t know, but i hope now your have a better memory of that song” smiling.I walked away from Enrique`s dressing room when i noticed Fernando talking on his mobile phone, i heard him say something like “well he has a crush on someone over in here in the uk , i don’t know how he is going to sort his head out, that`s if he can”. I carried on walking towards the lounge room when i bump into Sophie, “wow where have you been “i asked “well i was watching the concert from the other side of the stage, hey how about you and Enrique eh?” I look at her puzzled “what on earth are you talking about?”
She said “that she noticed that Enrique looks at me in a certain way, and we both know what that look is like don’t we?” I laughed at her “don’t be bloody silly what on earth would he see in me plus isn’t he going out with
the gorgeous Russian Tennis player called Anna?” “I know he is seeing her June but you gotta believe me just look at these photo` s I took of you both during hero “I looked and said “your seeing something that isn’t there Sophie, don’t read in to mate, please just leave it, yeah? “She replied “ok then what did he say to you when you were dancing up there”? I said “what do you mean he didn’t say anything” blushing really bad, she laughed and said “he did June, just look at this video” she shows me a video & you can tell quite clearly he is saying something to me but you don’t know what. “Well” she says “spill the gossip” I looked at her & said “I cannot tell you Soph i really can`t to do this right now” I walk off shaking my head thinking nothing is going to happen, my brain is going into over drive over that conversation.
I heard Fernando say to Sophie “what was that all about?” Sophie said “I am sure something is going on with June & Enrique, but June won`t tell me anything” Fernando smiles says to Sophie “i have no idea what is going on either, but i think you should give June some space, its been a huge day for her today” Sophie said “ i guess
your right” and walks off to go find Jamie.Sophie found Jamie and she told Jamie all about what happened, he laughed and said “to be honest with you i think your find he is like that with most girls, but some of the band have been talking about how he is with June, he is different with her than anyone else he looks at her different i cant put my finger on it”.Sophie looked pleased with herself cause she wasn’t the only one that had noticed.
