Monte Carlo July 2012.... FANTASTIC! Thank you Enrique and good luck with your tour with JLO....enjoy all you lucky people going!!!!
I arrived in Monte Carlo late Wednesday evening, ready for Enrique’s 2 concerts on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th! I spent Thursday walking around Monte Carlo in Casino Square and the Marina - so many stunning people, boats and cars! In the evening I had dinner at Café du Paris, where you can watch the amazing life go by. The buildings in Casino Square all light up at night and it is just incredibly beautiful.
Friday…. Excited all day for the first concert, so just spent hours relaxing in the sun by the lovely pool at Monte Carlo Bay Hotel. Finally it was time to get ready, and head over to the Salles des Etoilles where Enrique was performing. The venue is beautiful inside – very small, tables laid with glasses and flowers catching the lights – it looks so pretty when you walk in! Everyone is shown to their table – mine on Friday was almost as far away from the stage as possible so I was initially disappointed but I remembered from 3 years ago that Enrique comes down the tables to be closer to people at the back so kept my fingers crossed! We ate dinner (lovely) and then they opened the roof to the venue and you see the night sky above – hence its name ‘the room of stars’. As this was the opening night, there was a stunning firework display and as it ended, Enriques ‘Fiesta’ music started and within seconds, there he was on stage!!!! I was up on my feet straight away….. but no one else got up lolol! After the first couple of songs, he told everyone to get up and gradually people did – the problem with this event is that too many people are there just to see ‘a show’, not necessarily the artist themselves and I think it was hard work for Enrique to get them all going – but you know how good he is at working the audience and he soon had most people up and dancing! Security kept telling me to put my camera away so it was hard to get pictures that night, but it was still a great concert…. Too soon, the concert was over, with Enrique inviting anyone who wanted to party with him to climb up on stage for his final song ‘I Like it’…. I was too far away but knew I had to get a better seat for Saturday!!!!!! I went to see the Maitre D’ in charge of seating (who was lovely) and practically begged him for a better seat the next night and said he would do his best!
Saturday, I was meeting Val (who I met at Enrique’s Cardiff VIP in 2011 and again at Enrique’s Madrid concert this year) and also Nicola, who got in touch through this forum when she booked her ticket. We met for cocktails at the hotel and then went over to the venue. I felt really nervous waiting to find where we would be sitting – it was still quite far back, but very central with a great view of the stage, but more importantly it was right by the steps leading down to where Enrique had walked down the table the previous night, and we could see a route through to the front!!! Nicola headed off to try and give Enrique her present as he arrived backstage – and succeeded – well done Nicola!!! As she came back, it was time for Enrique to come on stage again and as his music started we immediately ran down and sat on the steps. Again it took a while to get people up on their feet – but we got up and danced and as soon as I heard the music to ‘Tired of being sorry’ I said lets go – this was the song he walks down the tables to - so we headed straight for that table and he was literally just feet away from us! Security was way more relaxed and we got brilliant photos! He sang with one very lucky girl and got her up on the table…. Then he headed back to the stage and we managed to move forward almost to the front – Nicola went for it and got right to the front – she had people and security sending her back but kept on heading straight back – hilarious!!!! Nicola, you are seriously determined hahaha!!!! The concert was brilliant – he sat down and sang Ring My Bells (my favourite song) and it was breathtakingly, goosebumpingly beautiful J! When he sang Hero (no Hero girl) he said ‘this one is for my real fans out there’ . Again, beautiful! Enrique sang more songs and stayed on stage longer than the night before and it was just AMAZING!!!! Then ‘I Like It ‘ began and I knew this was time to get up on stage! Nicola – was more or less the first one up and managed to get a hug lucky girl – the stage was quite high so Val and I asked a guy in the front row if we could have his chair and clambered up – not a pretty sight in short dresses – but hey, anything for Enrique!!!! We got soooo close to him, and jumped around on stage with him until the song was over and he left. It was just such a high being up there with him. As we left, Val and I met Alex who was lovely, he took a picture with my camera and chatted for a bit – such a friendly guy! And that was it – 2 nights of lovely Enrique in beautiful Monte Carlo all over – but WHAT an experience. We loved every minute and cant wait to go back again…. Thank you sooo much Enrique for 2 brilliant performances and for inviting everyone up on stage – unforgettable!!!!

Thanks Laura - really enjoyed reading that and re-living the weekend. Enrique was amazing on Saturday night and it's surreal seeing photos of us actually on stage with him!! Like you say, it is a totally different "Enrique experience" but definitely one I would do again. Monte Carlo AND Enrique.... just perfect!!! xxx

Hi Laura! what a weekend!!!!!!!!!! It was good reading your story :) as some of it I didn't take in at the time!!!!! As you know I got much too carried away!!!!!! to say the least...lol.
I would love to go back again one day if Enrique does another show there in the future, it is so different from other concerts and a lovely smaller venue and next time I will make sure that I behave more appropriately!!!!!!!! I do feel a bit bad that I acted sooooo crazy at my age!!!!! perhaps I just should have stood back a bit when I was told to then I wouldn't have annoyed guests at the front and security! I got in a complete dream on the night!!!!!!!!!!! It was lovely meeting you Laura and also you Val and thanks to you both for your great company:)

finally I got the time to read the whole story and to watch the videos :) Too good to read your story and you`re too lucky that you got to attend 2 concerts in 2 days :) It`s also so nice that you met Val and Nicola who were very lucky too, especially Nicola who met Enrique, got a hug from him and gave him her presents, what else anyone can ask? :D I would have come too there, but it`s not that close to my country and I don`t have the credit card to go to Monaco, so maybe that`s why you say that it`s a different concert :P I see that too and I got so jealous when Enrique called people to get up on stage with him dancing and singing along and watching the video of it made me even more jealous... :(
But it`s weird to hear that VIP seats are just for rich people or something why is that?

Vivi, I think all the tickets are the same price with no VIP option ... but the guy in charge told me he has to give priority to the casino people and residents at the hotel - he didnt know we were staying at the hotel so I know next time to make that very clear.... The front rows did have famous people, models and obviously very wealthy monaco residents... I have been to all 4 concerts there, always stayed at the hotel and my seat has been towards the back everytime :( But Enrique gets everyone up and encourages you to come forward and he made a reference to his 'real' fans.... not sure if he told security to chill a bit on the second night but it was much better!!! No one stopped us doing anything.One of the famous guys did give me his chair to stand on to get up on stage and gave me a shove up lolol... then he helped me back down, so he was nice!!! I still recommend it - brilliant weekend!!! A week ago already - so wish I was going there tonight!!! Where do you live - will u get to any of the US dates?

Ahh, now I get why everytime people like us have to be in the back there in Monaco, since we aren`t famous at all :( That`s sad but I`m glad to hear that a famous man gave you his sit and you managed to get up on stage :) Seems that famous people there are so nice to do something like this.. :) I can see the second concert was much better, might be though that Enrique told securities to chill a bit, since he wanted his fans there up on stage with him :)
But I live in Greece and I won`t get to any of the US dates :( I don`t have anyone there and Enrique will sing for a little time since the tour is JLo`s and not his :( But I read that you might go since you have relatives there, it would be awesome if you`ll go, though I`m not thrilled for this tour :(
What about you though? Where do you live?

I live in England... but I have a son in Dubai and another in Florida so I can travel to see them... and Enrique lol!!! I saw Enrique in Miami when he played with Pitbull last year - and I felt a bit like you - not sure about him sharing a tour BUT Pitbull was brilliant and Enrique was as good as always - it was a slightly shorter set though but not sure what the plan is this time! If I do get to Florida, I will try and get a ticket! Lets hope he comes back to Europe soon :) i am sure he wont want to take too long a break - he is on such a career high, I am sure he will want to keep it going with another album and tour.... fingers crossed!!

Pitbull is a great artist though, nothing to do with JLo :P Hope you can make it to Florida and hope Enrique is back soon :)

Monte Carlo is a lovely place, went there many years ago. Seeing Enrique perform at those little venues must feel kind of ... cosy and homey ;-)
