To my dad (RIP) : Happy Fathersday !

Today it's fathersday in Belgium. My dad sadly passed away way to soon in 2005. He was only 66 years (for three days) when he suddenly died.

But my dad loved flowers. He loved getting them for his birthday, Fatherday, weddinganniversary or other occasions or just cause we felt like buying some. Today my mom still has every week some new fresh flowers who are standing next to my dad's picture !

I love flowers myself although I never get some. You can do me such a pleasure with it. Guess I must have that from my dad then !

So I went to the graveyard and planted two plants with flowers on. One is lavender and the other one I don't know ! But loved the tiny little flowers. You can see them in the pictures. The lavender is on the left and the other one is on the right undercorner.

Hi Hilde

Thank you for sharing this with us. I understand you . My dad passed away on 11th May 2010 . Here in México fatrher´s day is the third sunday of June. I miss him so much. My Dad also loved flowers too. We have his pic , next to it , we put flowers and light a candle.

For those who still have theirs father alive , I wish you enjoy this special day with them and for those who don´t have their dad alive like me .I know that they are angels that are taking care of us and they live forever in our hearts.

I'm so sorry to hear that girl. But you understand then what I'm going through. How much you can miss someone hu ? So your dad also loved flowers ? How awesome ! I have two white roses standing next to his picture (I dried them) and I light a candle (tealights) in front of it. That way he feels closer to me. Hope you can find some comfort in that and can share it with your family ! Wish you lots of strenght girl !

I'm very sorry for your loss Hildeke - Even though it's been 6 yrs It's still very hard when you have lost a loved one - I'm no expert but have some knowledge of plants, the plant on the right I think is a wax plant - It's a Very hardy plant!!!

Yep it is a Kalanchoë and its very hardy and will bloom very long!

And madre....I know you miss your dad every day. YOU are his most precious flower and he wants his favorite girl to be thriving when he is watching from up above! It will make him smile....So take care of yourself and grab every opportunity to flourish and bloom like the flowers your dad loves so much! As your hija, which I am sooooo proud to be, I will do whatever you need me to to help and support you with that!

Thanks Jennifer. They say that with the years it get's better. But it doesn't ! How can it go better if you lost someone so dear ! This pain inside of me will be there for ever. But I also know that he's watching over me and will protect me. That does comfort me a bit. And thanks for telling me about the plant. That's so sweet of you !
