When he played Live Earth he gave an interview saying he'd watched An Inconvenient Truth so he believes in global warming and that humans have a great impact on it, not that it automaticaly makes him a democrat supporter but this and other things he's said seem to indicate that he does lean to the left wing.
There was an article that he was supposed to play a concert for Obama leading up to the election in '08. The article said that though Enrique privately supported Obama he didn't want to play, presumably for fear of alienating fans with his political views which sadly happens sometimes. Of course that article could be completely made up.
It could be that Enrique like most isn't one party or another. Most people swing from parties based on which policies they feel are best at the time even they're inclined to lean one particular way. I'm not even sure if Enrique is allowed to vote although I think he fulfills all the residential requirements.

Permalink Reply by Casey Jones on April 7, 2011 at 8:44am I believe that non US citizens can be registered to vote if they meet rather legnthy residential requirements.
Of course I've always found it odd that Enrique's never become a US citizen particularly since Anna has. He always talks of the US and Miami specificaly as his home. He was asked whether he'd ever consider moving to Spain and he said maybe he'd retire there but he's also contradicted this too. But this isn't the thread for this discussion...
Permalink Reply by silentocean on April 7, 2011 at 9:26am I don't mind to discuss in here Casey..after all of of this board consists of intertwined discussions..it's not like the UE board where things need to be discussed in certain sections :)..
But I think he feels he needs to stay true to his roots and thus remain a Spanish citizen..I know AK has become a US citizen, but it might have to do with her voluntarily coming there back then and he not (he was forced to do it, since his grandfather was kidnapped)..But ofcourse he has been feeling very much "at home" also in the US..but in his heart he will always consider himself Spanish I think..
