New Single "Heart Attack" Available Now!
I kinda feel bad. I tried to keep constructive but I guess I couldn't help myself putting down the mistakes of the past but that's because I have this nagging feeling that the brain trust at Interscope think they made all the right moves with Insomniac and think that it failed simply "because". I feel that it's important to point out what they did wrong so if anyone out there is reading they don't repeat the same mistakes.

Wanda, I think you had a lot of good ideas but I think a lot of it may be beyond Enrique at this time. People have to want to feature him in their media and I have a feeling even booking Enrique on decent tv shows may be getting problematic. Even if they could, here's the thing...He was on Dancing With The Stars, So You Think You Can dance, he guest roled on two of the top rated sitcoms on tv, he was on a soap opera and everything. They did all that stuff last time and it still didn't work out.
Now that may be a bit unfair to say, I think that the label didn't appreciate how well Do You Know did considering many had written Enrique off. I'd put that down to the fact that he got good exposure and the fact that it was more in line with was currently popular. Arguebly the follow single got just as much exposure and it still failed.
The point I'm making is you can stick his face on dozens of Billboards, you can get him performing on the biggest tv shows, you can put Enrique everywhere but none of it will make a bit of difference unless the songs he's singing is what people want to buy.
On a more personal level I don't think Enrique does himself any favours by releasing stuff he doesn't want to. When Enrique gives a sarcastic answer to why he releases his latest single or shrugging his shoulders and saying "because my record company made me". heck he even told a radio DJ or two he didn't even like the song he was promoting and one time spend a good portion of the interview talking about the song that should've been released instead.
This kind of stuff hardly inspires people to buy his album or go see him in concert. If Enrique is incapable of faking enthusiasm then he needs to release what makes him feel confident about. The weird thing I think Enrique has fairly good judgement in this area, it's the label that seems to hold him back.
I also think the marketing should fit the album. Trying to promote on AC like the did with Somebody's Me was an okay idea given the song but Enrique burned his bridges with that audience when the all bought Escape on the stregnth of Hero and ditched him when they realised that the entire album was very different. Even if they fell for the same trick twice we'd be back to square one with them soon ditching Enrique when they heard the rest of the album. Unless he's willing to compromise and become a proper balladeer then CHR is the way to go and he needs to come up with songs that that wont get ignored and shunted onto other formats. The marketing is secondary to that.
